ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) seized huge quantity of narcotics weighing 2.9 ton valuing over fourteen billion in international market during 12 operations launched across the country. The recovered drugs comprised 2.52 ton heroin, 379 kg hashish and 5.5 kg methamphetamine. The ANF also arrested 12 drug peddlers including a lady trafficker and seized one vehicle.
The ANF Quetta seized massive quantity of drugs comprising 2.52 ton heroin in two separate major intelligence based operations conducted at Noshki and Kalat. According to details, the ANF Quetta raided a desolate site located at Killi Ahmed Wal, Tehsil Mal, District Noshki, seizing drug consignment comprising 1300 kg heroin. Another drug consignment weighing 1226 kg heroin was seized from an uninhabited site situated in the area of Killi Zar Ghulam Jan, Mangochar, Kalat. Heroin was stuffed in plastic bags. As per preliminary reports, the seized drug consignments were intended to be transported to some unidentified destinations.
The ANF Rawalpindi recovered 2 kg hashish from an accused named Muhammad Zafran resident of Kohistan while arresting him in a raid conducted near Jutial Bus Stand, Gilgit. As per initial information, the accused was involved in drug peddling at local level.
The ANF Lahore arrested an accused namely Naseem Masih resident of Sargodha at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, while he was boarding for Saudi Arabia by Qatar Airways Flight No. QR-621 and recovered 2.25 kg heroin concealed in his hand bag. In another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 720 gram heroin from a parcel containing baby garments being sent to Canada. Parcel was intercepted at an office of Courier Service Company based at Gulberg-II, MM Alam Road, Lahore. Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Alto car near Haroon Express Bus Stand, Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore and recovered 25.2 kg hashish concealed in it. Two persons on board namely James Johnson and David both residents of Peshawar were also arrested during the operation. In fourth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a passenger identified as Atif Ali resident of Sialkot at Multan Airport and recovered 900 gram Heroin concealed in his shoes. He intended to take off for Kaulalumpur by Qatar Airways Flight No. QR-619. In fifth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a lady drug peddler identified as Nazia Shahzadi along with 290 gram heroin and 1.2 kg hashish which was found in her personal possession. She was arrested from Mohallah Nigahbanpura, Faisalabad.
The ANF Karachi on pursuance of an intelligence report intercepted a container at Karachi International Container Terminal, Seaport Karachi and seized 4.5 kg heroin and 5.5 kg Methamphetamine from the said container. The container was destined to UAE and drugs were tactfully concealed in paver tiles. In another operation, ANF Karachi in a joint operation in collaboration with Pakistan Rangers Sindh raided a house located at Masoom Shah Colony, Kala Pul, Karachi and seized 324 kg hashish placed inside the house. Two persons including Irfan and Imran both residents of Karachi were also arrested during the operation. Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi recovered 20 kg hashish from a drug carrier named Abdul Shakoor resident of Chaghi who was arrested while travelling in a passenger bus at old National Highway, Therhi, Khairpur. Hashish was concealed in his luggage. In fourth operation, ANF Karachi arrested a drug supplier namely Dharmal resident of Mirpur Khas along with 7 kg Hashish which was recovered from his luggage. He was arrested near Total Petrol Pump, Ghulam Shah Kalhoro Flyover, Hyderabad.
Separate cases were registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations were underway.
