KARACHI: Alkhidmat Karachi brought joys of Eid for 200 orphans in Karachi as the organization arranged a shopping trip for them to a local departmental store.
Alkhidmat also distributed cash “Eidi” among the orphan children.
On the occasion, mothers or caretakers of the children, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Alkhidmat Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, SSGC GM Corporate communications, Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program Farooq Kamlani and others were also accompanying them.
A large number of volunteers from JI Youth assisted the families in shopping. Maximum efforts were made to implement pandemic SOPs.
Each orphan children was provided Rs3,000 for shopping and presented with an additional Rs500 as Eidi.
Alkhidmat spent more than Rs600,000 in this regard in the single activity. The activity brought an extra shine on the faces of the children. Caretakers of the orphans thanked Alkhidmat for the activity.
Speaking on the occasion, JI Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Alkhidmat observes 15th of Ramazan as ‘Orphans’ Day’. He added that the day is observed across the world and the credit in this regard goes to Alkhidmat’s efforts.
“The purpose for this trip is to provide an opportunity for orphan children to purchase their clothes etc of their own choice. It would help in keeping them away from the sense of hopelessness,” he added.
The JI leader further said that taking care of orphans was a sunna of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and we need to act upon the same. He urged the society members to come forward in this regard.
He further said that Alkhidmat supports more than 12,000 orphans across Pakistan and 1,174 orphan children in Karachi. Rs4,000 per head are spent per month to fulfill their educational and other expenses, he added.
