ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has expressed his hope that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will prove a game changer across the region.
Speaking at the All-Parties Conference (APC) organized by Baloch National Party (BNP) on Sunday, Ahsan Iqbal said that development projects related to the energy sector worth $25 billion will be completed under the economic corridor.
He said that under CPEC, power project worth of $11.5 billion is being completed in Sindh while energy projects worth $7.1 billion are being completed in Sindh while energy projects worth $6.9 billion are being completed in Punjab.
The Minister said that work on CPEC is being done with full transparency and the mega project was started on the consensus of Pakistan and China and has grabbed the world’s attention.
The leaders of different political parties while addressing the APC urged the federal government to fulfill its promises regarding the economic corridor. They also demanded the federal government to provide basic facilities to the people living in Gwadar and stressed that locals should be given first priority in working on the economic corridor.
