BAKU: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has advised Pakistan to decrease subsidies on fuel and power.

ADB president Takehiko Nakao has said in the 48th annual meeting of the board of governors that it was a good opportunity for Pakistan to cut fuel and power subsidies and made energy and economy more efficient.

Takehiko said in his concluding remarks that low-income and heavy oil import countries had to face high costs of energy, especially when they issued subsidies on fuel and power. He was of view that these subsidies were a very big burden on poor countries like Pakistan.
