GHOTKI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that accountability needs to start from the prime minister and the premier needs to present himself for ‘democratic accountability’.

Addressing a public rally here at Dharki on Friday, he said the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will now have to present himself for accountability and the accountability needs to be democratic.

Bilawal said that he was not accusing the prime minister of corruption, but the evidence brought forth in the Panama Papers reveals his corruption for all to see.

The PPP Chairman, criticising the PML-N government, said the current policies pursued by the government of Nawaz Sharif are some of the worst in the history of the country and the same policies have divided the people.

“We need the people to be united, but Nawaz Sharif, your flawed policies have divided the people,” said Bilawal.

The PPP chairman also reminded the prime minister that he is not a monarch, neither is Raiwind the throne of Pakistan.

“Pakistan is a democracy, not a monarchy, you are a prime minister and not a king”.

Bilawal also questioned the current government on its lack of transparency and answers to questions which have been raised in the parliament and Senate. He also asked why the inquiry report is not made public after attacks on national institutions.

“You (Nawaz) will have to answer the people, you have never answered the people,” added Bilawal.

The PPP Chairman also said large public development schemes should be transparent and noncontroversial.

Bilawal, addressing his party workers, also questioned Nawaz’s ‘friendship’ withe Indian Prime Narendra Modi.

“We do not know what benefit you get by being friends with Modi?”

The PPP Chairman said he wants to neutralise “Modi’s conspiracy against Pakistan”.
