China to always standby with Pakistan for achieving its goals: Chinese President

ISLAMABAD: Chinese President  Xi Jinping on Tuesday said that Chinese people will always standby with the people of Pakistan in the endeavor for achieving the goal of socio economic development and prosperity.

President Xi, on last day of his two-day state visit to Pakistan, arrived at the Parliament House this morning amid rousing welcome to address the joint sitting of the Parliament. President Xi is the fourth Chinese president to do so.

In his around 40-minute speech, President Xi highlighted traditional and historic relations between the two countries.

Addressing the joint session of Parliament in Islamabad, the Chinese President  announced that his country firmly supports Pakistan for upholding its territorial integrity, sovereignty and national dignity.

He expressed the confidence that Pakistan will be successful in overcoming all challenges it is facing with the cooperation of China.

He said Pakistan is a great country which has great civilizations and we are good friends, brothers, and partners who have developed all weather strategic partnership. He said both the countries always move together on all regional and international issues.

The President said the Chinese people have great respect for the people of Pakistan and have very good wishes for the development and progress of Pakistan.

He appreciated Islamabad’s constructive role in peace process in Afghanistan, adding his country would continue to support Pakistan to bring about Afghan reconciliation.

Jinping said he choose Pakistan as first country to visit during the current year which reflects out deep rooted love and affection besides our desire to give new impetus to our relations with it.

The Chinese president praised people of Pakistan by saying that “nation of Pakistan is kind, brave and courageous”. He said Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism are exemplary.

He also invited victims of Army Public School Peshawar that survived Taliban attack, to visit China.

He said our friendship is great asset for the future generations as both the countries are knotted in the deep bonds of culture and civilizations.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif address to the Joint Session of the Parliament 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his address to the session expressed his gratefulness to the Chinese president and his delegation for their visit to Pakistan.

The PM said Pak-China friendship is a time-tested friendship and both the countries are iron brothers.

He said Pakistan considers China’s security as its own security.

The premier said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the result of efforts by both countries and it reflects our strong bilateral relations.

The PM said that both countries will continue working jointly to achieve the targets of peace, development and prosperity.

He thanked China for cooperation in energy projects and stressed on enhancing people to people contacts to further promote relations between the two countries.

Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan will continue its one China policy internationally.
