LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that if the country’s judiciary failed to do justice in the case against the Prime Minister, the matter would be decided at the heavens. He was talking to the media after the hearing of the Panama leaks case in Islamabad on Thursday.
Sirajul Haq said that the Prime Minister’s counsel was pressing on immunity instead of justice but there was no immunity to telling a lie.
He said the crying need of the hour was that the issue be decided in the light of the articles 62 and 63 of the constitution.
However, he said, the government effort was to lay emphasis on the articles that served the ruler’s interest and to ignore those that protected the interest of the masses. However, he said, that such a thing was not possible now.
He was confident that the court verdict in the Panama leaks case would close the door of corruption in the country and at the same time, it would falsify the notion that in this country, only the poor were punished and the powerful went scot free.
The JI chief said that the learned judges of the apex court were aware that this was a case of sensitive nature. He said the question was as to how the Sharif family got so much wealth when the masses in the country were facing abject poverty?
He said if the ruling family failed to prove the sources of its wealth, it would be presumed to be black money.
Asked to comment on a statement of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, the JI chief said that Rana Sanaullah was simply showing his loyalty to the rulers but he was right that the court decision could be threat to the government.
