ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (INP) Foreign Office says there is ample and undeniable evidence that India is involved in subversive activities and financing terrorism in Pakistan.
At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad today, Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said unfortunately Pakistan is the victim of terrorism especially the Indian sponsored state terrorism. He said there is a confessional statement of RAW agent Kulbushan Yadav in this regard.
Nafees Zakaria said the former US defense secretary Chuck Hagel had stated that New Delhi is trying to destablize Pakistan from Afghanistan. There are also statements of top Indian leaders about using terrorism against Pakistan.
The spokesperson said no nation has done more than Pakistan to wipe out terrorism. He said Pakistan’s successes are acknowledged by all.
Nafees Zakaria said we have called upon India to pursue the path of dialogue rather than confrontation and terrorism.
He, however, regretted that India has shied away from talks for resolution of outstanding disputes including the core dispute of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said a just resolution of this dispute is essential for normalization of relations between the two countries and peace and development in the region.
Nafees Zakaria said occupied Kashmir is the most militarized zone where one point five million innocent Kashmiri people have been massacred. Since July last year, Indian troops have unleashed a new wave of terror.
When asked about the US Vice President Joe Biden statement on nuclearization of South Asia, the spokesperson said blaming Pakistan for this is not fair and correct. He said it is India which introduced nuclear factor in South Asia. Pakistan being a much smaller country, had no choice but to follow the suit to avoid nuclear blackmailing.
He said despite India’s buildup of conventional and nuclear weapons, Pakistan is committed to avoiding an arms race in the region. It is maintaining minimum credible deterrence for peace and stability in the region. He said those worried about nuclearization in South Asia should impress upon India to accept Pakistan’s proposal of strategic restraint regime.
About Afghan leadership’s accusations, the spokesperson rejected them saying these will prove to be unhelpful in efforts to peace and stability.
The spokesperson said increasing foothold of terrorist organizations in Afghanistan is a matter of concern not only for Pakistan but other countries as well. He said a number of independent studies admit that factors impeding peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan are internal in nature.
He maintained that Pakistan has highest stakes in Afghan peace. He said there are certain elements which have no interest in Afghan peace are out to hurt Pak-Afghan relations. We are the most sincere friends to the Afghan people. He said Pakistan remains committed to engage with Afghan leadership to fight the menace of terrorism.
