DOHA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been declared the “Person of the Year” for 2016 in a survey conducted by the Qatar-based Al Jazeera’s Arabic service.
The Al Jazeera’s Arabic service conducted the survey on the networks Facebook page in which a total of 130,000 people participated from around the world. Fourty percent of the voters voted in favour of Turkish President Erdogan, declaring him the “Person of the Year 2016”.
The second position was bagged by five-year-old Syrian child Omran Daqneesh, claiming 34 percent votes. The child’s photo covered with dust and blood after an attack by Assad regime forces went viral in August last year.
