BEIJING: China and Pakistan have signed an agreement for an investment of US $ 1.5 billion in HVDC Transmission line between Matiari and Lahore linking north-south National Grid with a capacity to transmit 4000MWs.
The agreement was signed in Beijing on Thursday between Secretary Water & Power Mohammad Younus Dagha and Chairman State Grid of Chin.
The signing ceremony was held in the State Guest House Beijing and witnessed by Federal Ministers and Chief Ministers of Sindh, KPK, Balochistan and GB alongwith the senior Chinese Officials.
It will be the first such high capacity transmission line in Pakistan.
Meanwhile inclusion of 30 mega-projects in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during sixth Pakistan-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting was accorded in Beijing on Thursday.
These included rail-based mass transit projects for four provinces i.e. Greater Peshawar Mass Transit, Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), Quetta Mass Transit and Lahore Orange Line Train Project.—APP
