Sindh asked to clear Rs60bn power dues immediately

ISLAMABAD: The federal government accepted on Tuesday that it could not ensure uninterrupted electricity to the residential consumers during Sehr, Iftar as system did not have such a capacity. The Ministry for Water and Power asked the Sindh government to immediately clear its 60 billion rupees power arrears.

Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said that most of the urban and rural areas were free from load shedding during Sehr, Iftar and Taraveeh.

He said in a news conference that the number of areas with system constraints had been reduced from 700 to 100 in a period of one year through induction of 58 new feeders, up gradation of more than 50 others and replacement of transformers.

The chief executive officers of all distribution companies, who were taken on board through videoconferencing claimed to have ended load shedding in three critical timings of the day in Ramadan.
