Root shines as England beat New Zealand in T20

MANCHESTER: England defeated New Zealand by 56 runs to win the only Twenty20 international between the two sides at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

This was the final match of New Zealand’s tour after they drew a two-Test series 1-1 and were beaten 3-2 in a five-match one-day campaign

New Zealand, set a target of 192, were dismissed for 135 with 22 balls left in the innings. Kane Williamson top-scored with 57 before the Black Caps lost their last five wickets for four runs.

Earlier, England made 191 for seven after winning the toss thanks mainly to Joe Root’s 68.David Willey took three for 22 and ran out Williamson with a brilliant direct hit.
