Moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia, Ramadan fasting to start on Thursday

Ramadan 2015 moon has not been sighted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and first fasting of the Holy Ramadan will be observed on Thursday – June 18, 2015.

Moon sighting preparations were completed in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), United Arab Emirates, United States of America (USA), Canada and various other Arab countries to sight new crescent signalled commencement of Holy month of Ramadan.

UAE committee begun meeting at 7:00pm local time after Maghrib prayer comprising members UAE’s Moon Sighting Committee and the Supreme Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia to confirm witnessing Ramadan crescent here on Tuesday.

Final announcement is likely to be emerged around 9:00pm local time as per expectations like last year when the crescent declaration had been released after 9:00pm local time.

It should be mentioned that Muslims of Middle East, Europe and the US follow Saudi Arabian Islamic Hijri calendar in accordance to lunar year.

Ruet-e-Hilal (moon sighting) Committee of Pakistan has scheduled its meeting on Wednesday (tomorrow) that would be chaired by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in Karachi. The committee completed preparations to sight crescent moon. The meeting will be attended by various clerics and Met experts.
