ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said the platform of Radio Pakistan will be fully used to project the positive image of Pakistan both at home and abroad.
She made these remarks while participating in a special live program of current affairs channel of Radio Pakistan during her visit to the National Broadcasting House in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Minister said that training of human resource and equipping Radio Pakistan and other mediums of Information Ministry with latest technology will be her top most priority to achieve that objective.
Marriyum Aurangzeb pointed out that Pakistan of today is much different than what it was in 2013 as the country has been put on the road to prosperity through mega projects in diverse fields including transport, communication, CPEC, education and health.
Similarly, the counter terrorism initiative has improved overall environment for foreign and domestic investment. She said the country has been put on the right and positive direction but the challenge before us is now to build the image of the country both at home and abroad.
She said Radio Pakistan has a pivotal role in this regard and having outreach to rural areas, this medium will be fully utilized to share positive developments about the country. This will also help fight despondency amongst the youth.
Referring to significant reduction in power outages to three hours and the program launched by the prime minister for the youth, the Minister stressed these positive developments could be transmitted to the masses through Radio Pakistan for the benefit of the people.
Responding to a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that she will continue to visit Radio Pakistan to apprise the people about the government’s programs for their welfare and development. She said the prime minister will also address the nation on the Radio at an appropriate time.
When asked about right to information act, Marriyum Aurangzeb said work has been completed on it and it will soon be presented before the parliament for approval. She described the finalization of the act as a historic and a positive step forward.
Earlier, the Minister visited different wings of the national broadcasting house including the general news room, Web Desk, Sautul Quran Channel and different studios. On the occasion, she was briefed about the working of each department.

Director-General Radio Pakistan Khurshid Malik briefed the Minister of State about functioning of different wings of the organization.
He said Radio Pakistan is playing vital role in prompt dissemination of information and creating awareness amongst the public about different issues.
The Minister gave directions to improve News, Current Affairs and Programme contents as well as human resource development. She said Radio Pakistan should also increase its focus on issues pertaining to youth and women and policies and programmes of the Government for their welfare
She also proposed steps for increasing revenue generation and efficient utilization of the resources.
Secretary Information and Broadcasting Saba Mohsin, Principal Information Officer Rao Tehsin Ali, and senior officers of the Ministry accompanied the Minister of State and attended the briefing.
