ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has dismissed a petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging Defence Minister Khawaja Asif victory in the NA-110 constituency.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the case.

PML-N’s Khawaja Asif had won on NA-110 in Sialkot in May 2013 general elections. Earlier, an election tribunal had given ruling in favour of the PNL-N leader.

PTI’s Usman Dar had challenged the decision in the apex court as the PTI, seeking investigation into rigging allegations.

Speaking to the media, Khawaja Asif welcomed the SC ruling verdict and said the apex court respected the decision of people in Sialkot.

“I have no words to offer thanks to Allah, he said and added prayers of the people of Sialkot were with me.
