LOS ANGELES: The annual E3 press conference is on its full swing today (Tuesday), Japanese technological giant Sony has made its pitch to gamers at the LA Memorial Colosseum Arena, with a warmly received trilogy of surprise announcements.

Sony revealed that it would bring a remake of Final Fantasy VII to the PS4, as well as Fumito Ueda’s The Last Guardian and — as long as its Kickstarter campaign is funded (it will be) Shenmue III.

The company also trailed a new multiplayer game for its Morpheus virtual reality headset, and new details on established franchises like Uncharted and Destiny.

The press conference follows similarly bombastic events by Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Bethesda ahead of the kickoff of E3 proper on Tuesday.

  9. Shenmue III
