KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has visited Gadani Ship breaking yard on Saturday and declared the naval ship incident is a big human tragedy.
Talking to media near the site of the incident, JI Karachi chief criticising provincial and federal governments said sadly both governments didn’t performed their rescue duties properly which should be investigated.
He demanded the provincial and federal governments to compensate the victims of the horror incident.
The JI leader said the actual number of deaths in the incident is yet to be known, while about 150 people are still missing after the incident. He said the government should bear all treatment expenses of the injured.
The employees, locals and other also briefed Hafiz Naeem regarding the incident and problems faced in rescue work after the incident. On this occasion JI Karachi Secretary Abdul Wahab, Al-Khidmat Karachi Secretary Engr. Saleem Azhar, JI West district Ameer Abdul Razzaq Khan and others are also present on this occasion.
Criticising federal and Balochistan government, Hafiz Naeem said both governments should have played their respective roles following Quetta incident. Similarly government of Sindh should have played its role.
He said about 200 workers were working in ill-fate ship but till now it is not cleared how this incident actually happened.
Hafiz Naeem further said Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri has paid a visit to the site but Balochistan government didn’t take any initiative thus far. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should also has paid the visit here but he is too busy in others activities.
He further said recently some major incident occurred in this area, where workers from across the country earn their living here, but unfortunately there is not a single dispensary available in the area.
