No proposal under consideration to increase gas price: Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday said no proposal was under consideration to increase gas price for domestic consumers.

Addressing a news conference here, he expressed his confidence that in this winter, situation of gas supply to domestic consumers would be better as compared to previous year.

During this winter season, he said, 180 mmcfd (million cubic feet per day) additional gas would be added in the system, besides 400 ton Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) per day and 4,000 barrel crude oil per day.

Abbasi said the current government had so far added 944 mmcfd gas in the system out of which 466 mmcfd came from new discoveries and 478 mmcfd gas from existing wells.

Answering a question, the minister warned the elements, involved in illegal and dangerous practice use of compressor to increase gas pressure, to refrain from depriving others of their right.

He said this illegal practice could be discouraged through increased collaboration with police, gas companies and locals.
