‘Terrorist’ killed, dozens held in overnight Karachi raids

KARACHI: At least one ‘terrorist’ was killed and 33 other suspects rounded up in raids by law enforcement agencies in Karachi late on Sunday, officials and sources said.

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel conducted a raid in Korangi area of megapolis that led to an encounter with ‘terrorists’, sources said. The gun battle left one suspected terrorist dead, while one of his accomplice managed to escape.

Police and Rangers conducted search operations in Shah Faisal Colony no. 6, Paposh Nagar, Mujahid Colony and adjacent areas. The raids were conducted after the law enforcement was tipped off of miscreants’ presence in the localities.

Another search operation was conducted by Rangers in Gulshan Iqbal 13D area. Sources said worker of a political party, Muhammad Ali alias CNG, was taken into custody during the raid.

On the whole, 33 suspects were nabbed in the overnight raids in Karachi on Sunday.
