ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday announced that Islamabad protest will be held at any cost on Nov 2 and appealed the people of all shades and opinion to fully participate in the decisive sit in.
In a fiery presser outside his Bani Gala residence he said, “My resolve is increasing every day. Our gathering on November 2 will be decisive and historic.” He` said protest is their “legal and constitutional” right. “No power or deception can stop us from holding a sit-in in Islamabad,” he said.
He said the government’s attempt to stop the rally from happening will only result in spreading chaos. He said they would not stop as his supporters are charged and the government would not be able to stop them. He was of the view that unprecedented number of people will come out.
He said that a sea of people will flood the capital. “Look at the resolve of our workers. My tigers have left Lahore on foot.”
Imran added that he will challenge the High Court decision in the Supreme Court.
“Twenty five million children in this country don’t go to school. Thirty five percent children in this country are under-nourished. And the rulers are just making money.”
Imran asked which law had he broken that the police had launched a crackdown against him.
He alleged the government is using illegal and unconstitutional tactics to refrain us from holding a peaceful protest.” The government’s measures have been pushing the situation towards chaos, he said.
I want to ask judicial institutions to halt the government from taking anti-democratic and revengeful measures, he said adding that their people were being arrested, raids were being carried out at printers and they (the government) were threatening transporters.
“My fervour, passion and enthusiasm have been increasing day by day and my conscience tells me the darkness prevailing over Pakistan will be eliminated shortly.”
The PTI chief held a press conference, following a meeting of party’s cadres to review the
latest situation after the Islamabad High Court questioned Imran Khan’s authority in announcing plans of a lockdown in Islamabad.
The court asked Islamabad authorities to ensure that no roads are blocked and all institutions function normally on Nov 2.
Addressing the media, the PTI’s legal adviser Naeem Bukhari commented on the IHC order, saying, “It is not a ruling. The IHC just passed an order.”
“First of all, the court did not hear us. The IHC transgressed its jurisdiction by passing this order. Does the high court has the power to pass such an order?” Bukhari noted.
Naeem Bukhari also said he was first intimidated to quit the case followed by an offer of a big post.
Babar Awan Advocate said no order could be delivered without hearing the litigants under Article-10 of the Constitution, adding, “Hence, we will talk this order over and make a decision during the next 24 hours.”
