RAWALPINDI: An oil tanker caught fire on High Court road near Gulrez Housing Scheme on Tuesday evening.
No one was injured but the oil tanker was completely destroyed, Rescue 1122 spokesman said.
Rescue sources said the oil tanker had stopped at a pertrol pump for getting fuel but suddenly it caught fire.
As the tanker was engulfed in fire it soon spread to the nearby building. The Rescue teams reached the spot and evacuated the people from the roof of the building through escalator.
Seven fire tenders, two ambulances, one escalator and five water bouzers took part in the rescue operation while special foam were used to extinguish oil fire ,he added.
The fire resulted in massive traffic jam on both sides of the road.
