ISLAMABAD:  The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in occupied Kashmir, have said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally-recognized dispute and its resolution lies only in the implementation of relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the leaders in their separate  statements in Srinagar rejected the former puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s assertions that the resolution of Kashmir dispute was possible within the ambit of Indian constitution. They termed his remarks as baseless and far from historical perspective of the Kashmir dispute.

Meanwhile, an all India team of Delhi-based human rights body People’s Union for Civil Liberties at the end of a week-long visit to the Kashmir valley said that demand for Azadi is an all-pervasive voice across villages and cities, professionals and the ordinary, young and old and men and women in the territory.

The team, which was led by PUCL General Secretary Dr V Suresh observed that common people had lost faith in the ordinary democratic modes of redressal. The team in its recommendations urged Indian government to release all Hurriyet leaders and activists and human rights defender Khurram Pervez immediately and withdraw all cases against them. It asked New Delhi to hold unconditional talks with representatives of the people to move towards a permanent resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

On the other hand, normal life continued to remain affected by the shutdown on the 109th consecutive day, today, in the Valley. Hundreds of people raising anti-India and pro-freedom slogans participated in a rally at Arin in Bandipora district.

Youth blocked Bandipora-Gurez road in Ajar against the highhandedness of Indian police and paramilitary forces. Indian forces were deployed in strength in Manigam and Laar areas of Ganderbal district to foil pro-freedom protest rallies.
