80 per cent work completed on 500 KV Neelum Jhelum transmission line

ISLAMABAD: National Transmission and DespatchCompany Limited (NTDC) has completed overall 80 per cent construction work on 145 kilometer long 500 kV Neelum Jhelum Double Circuit Transmission Line for evacuation of 969 MW power from Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Plant.   

Official sources told APP here Friday that 412 out of 426 tower foundations have been completed and while 359 towers have also been erected.

Similarly 36 km out of 145 km stringing of conductor has also been completed, they added.

They said the construction work of transmission line was divided into three Lots i.e. LOT-I, LOT-II &  Lot-III.

Major construction work and activities include : Right of way clearance, Foundations, Erections and Stringing of Towers as per the prescribed design, they said.

The transmission line project is being constructed on verydifficult and mountainous terrains of AJK, which would be completed prior to commissioning of the Neelum Jhehlum Hydropower Plant.

Meanwhile, MD NTDC Dr Fiaz A, Chaudhry has also instructed the contractor and consultant Engineers to boost up the construction work on war footing and directed them to submit progress reports on

daily, weekly and monthly basis.

The construction progress of the project is being monitored regularly by NTDC management, since NTDC is committed to completing its transmission project on time as required.
