KARACHI: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) secretary Babar Yaqoob said that Rangers’ officials would be deployed inside and outside all polling stations during by-polls in NA-246 on April 23rd.
He said in a press conference along with ECP member Mohammad Roshan Isani that authorities of First Class Magistrate will be given to Rangers and presiding officers during the by-polls. Babar said that ballot papers were being published under the supervision of army. Babar said that they had published more than 358,000 ballot papers.
Babar said that ECP cannot manage biometric machines in the elections but Sindh government will provide CCTV cameras to ensure security and transparency during by-poll. He said that cellular phones would only be permitted to on-duty presiding officers.
He said that 25,000 ECP officials and more than 7,300 police personnel will perform duties on the polling day. Yaqoob said that he do not wanted to see bloodshed in NA-246 constituency.
ECP member Roshan Isani said that it is their responsibility to conduct free and fair election and the institution was fulfilling its constitutional responsibility.
