England opt to bat in first Bangladesh Test

CHITTAGONG: England captain Alastair Cook won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.

Cook becomes England’s most capped Test cricketer as he leads his team into battle against Bangladesh, overtaking countryman Alec Stewart’s previous record of 133 Tests.

Ben Duckett is making Test debut for England, while Gareth Batty is playing his first match in more than 11 years for his country after being included in the starting lineup.

Bangladesh have handed batsman Sabbir Rahman, all-rounder Mehedi Hasan and paceman Kamrul Islam their Test debuts.
