LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, has said it was immaterial if Islamabad was shut or open, as the masses only wanted end to corruption and ruthless accountability of the plunderers irrespective of their party affiliation.

In a statement here on Sunday, he said that if the Prime Minister removed the hurdles in the establishment of a judicial commission for accountability, the prevailing crisis would come to an end.

Liaqat Baloch said that corruption was the only obstacle in the progress and development of the country and the root cause of the poverty, unemployment and other social and economic problems facing the country.

He said that all serious effort to unite the Opposition parties were sabotaged as the accusations from both sides were facilitating the corrupt and incompetent ruling mafias in continuing their loot.

The JI secretary General said that disharmony between the civil and the military leadership would only harm national security. He said that this game had been played time and again during the last 69 years. He said if the government and the military stood against each other, restoration of peace and elimination of terrorism would be impossible.

He stressed upon the national leadership to remain within the constitutional limits and bury their personal wishes and ego.
