KARACHI: Jamaat-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Haiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority to revise what he termed its anti-people policies.
In a statement on Friday, the JI leader rejected the NEPRA’s decision to exempt Karachi from reduction of Rs 2.56 per unit in the electricity tariff.
The regulatory authority had announced a decrease of Rs 2.56 per unit for the month of August in connection with fuel adjustment. Meanwhile, the K-Electric has raised its tariff by Rs 0.05 per unit which would be merged in the bills for the month of October.
Terming the decisions discriminatory against Karachiites, he warned of NEPRA authorities not to press already irked Karachiites against wall, otherwise, he added, those responsible would have to face severe anger of masses.
He demanded of the governmental authorities to review there biased and illogical decisions and hinted for agitations, while saying that such flawed policies would leave no option for Karachiites but to take to streets.
The JI chief reiterated his demand to probe the financial matters as well as agreements of the KE with the government. He said that both the NEPRA high ups and KE administration are hand in gloves to rob Karachiites of their money through nefarious tactics.
Despite all the anomalies in the policies of the KE, NEPRA’s decisions reflect a visible tilt in the favor of later, he viewed.
