US Military website hacked by Syrian group

WASHINGTON: The group of hackers known as Syrian Electronics claimed  to have hacked US Army’s official website on Monday.

According to report, The site, which was down Monday afternoon, is a declassified public website.

The US Army’s official website was hacked Monday with messages denouncing Washington’s training of rebel fighters inside Syria, but no data was stolen, officials said.

Following the attack the army decided to temporarily shut down the website, which is designed for the general public with basic information.

The SEA is a hacker group that has claimed in the past to disrupt major news websites, including the New York Times, CBS News, the Washington Post and the BBC.
