KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation of cleanliness in the city.
In a statement on Monday, the JI chief said that the progress of both the provincial and the local government was quite unsatisfactory.
He said that the former chief minister had been giving deadlines for cleanliness in the city during his entire tenure while the sitting Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has become fail in keeping in words.
He further said that the local government related issues of the city are yet to be resolved despite the fact that all relevant powers have been provided to the local government institutions.
The JI leader was of the view that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) remained a part of the provincial and local governments for several times but did nothing on ground as evident from the situation of the city.
He said that criminal negligence have been witnessed in regard with civic issues of the city. He added that the MQM cannot deceive the nation any more in the pretext of MQM London and Pakistan.
He feared that the heaps of garbage and stagnant water can be resulted in outbreak of bacterial diseases.
He concluded that Karachi provides the largest share of revenue to the national exchequer but unfortunately always remain deprived of its due share in resources.
He demanded of the government to resolve the issue of the city and mitigate its miseries on war footing basis.
