Samjhota Express train resumes service after temporary suspension

LAHORE: The Samjhota Express train left for India as per schedule Monday  shortly after it was temporarily suspended in the wake of protests in New Delhi.

138 passengers set off for Attari through the Wagah Border in the train.

Earlier in a letter sent by the Indian Railway to Pakistan Railway it was stated that the train service was being temporarily suspended on Monday in the wake of protests in India.

Shortly afterwards, Indian Railway officials called their Pakistan counterparts on a hotline saying that they had made special security arrangements for their security. A Pakistan-India friendship bus carrying 11 passengers also set off for India on Monday through the Wagah Border. Samjhota Express leaves for India twice a week on Monday and Thursday. —INP
