ISLAMABAD: Joint Opposition in Senate has convened a meeting of its parliamentary leaders on Monday at Parliament’s House to discuss legislation on Panama issue.
The meeting, which will be presided over by Senator Aitzaz Ahsan of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), will deliberate over opposition’s strategy to get a Bill passed from Senate over Panama Papers’ issue. However, there are reports that Awami National Party (ANP) is reluctant to support the Bill. ANP’s Senator Ilyas Bilour says that there is a need to pass a comprehensive legislation against all those who have offshore companies not just against those named in Panama Papers’ leaks. He said that it was wrong to take action against only those having offshore companies named in Panama Papers’ leaks. —INP
