General Raheel Sharif visits Sri Lankan Army Headquarters

RAWALPINDI: Pakistani Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif paid visit to Sri Lankan Army Headquarters here on Saturday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

General Raheel Sharif called on by his counterpart Sri Lankan Army Chief Lieutenant General A W J C De Silva at Army Headquarters where he received warm welcome and Guard of Honour was provided to the COAS over his arrival.

Both military heads discussed paths to enhance bilateral defence relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. General Raheel, De Silve also exchanged views to eradicate terrorism and agreed to share experiences to get rid of menace of terrorism of any genre in their countries.

The talks also emphasised mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force of both countries.

COAS had arrived in in Sri Lanka on a four day visit over invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart where he would hold meetings with Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and top leadership of Sri Lanka’s armed forces.
