LAHORE: Pakistan Test side is about to make history today as for the first time the Green-Shirts are about to be crowned as World number 1 Test side in International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings.

The fiat which almost every captain dreamed off, now 42-year-old Misbah ul Haq is exactly to achieve. India stood on the brink of losing their number one status in the world as the fourth day’s play in the fourth and penultimate cricket Test against West Indies was abandoned owing to wet outfield Port of Spain on Sunday.

Currently, Pakistan, with 111 points, are just one single point away from World Number One India (112) in Test ranking.

For Pakistan, it was all depending on the result of fourth and final Test match between India and West Indies.

India were elevated to the No. 1 spot, after former toppers Australia’s melt down in Sri Lanka. Australia with 118 points, lost three-match Test series 0-3 and so the 6 invaluable points.

With the lost points, Aussies dropped down to 3rd place. This boosted India’s ranking to the first and Pakistan were consequently posted on the 2nd spot.

But, as per ICC Rankings rules, India were required to end four-match Test series 4-0 to keep the throne. But, with the second Test match being drawn, India were left only with an option to win all two remaining Test matches to gain some points.

They won the third Test match quite comfortably and were very positive about the final Test at Port of Spain.

But, it occurs that Good Heavens has some other plans as there at Port Of Spain, first four days of the match have been washed out with only 22 overs bowled in the first session of day 1.

With a day remaining the Test, the game will possibly ended up with a Draw.

With this, Pakistan’s hopes to be levitated to the Top rank in ICC Test Rankings have brightened.
