Three killed in armed clash in Rajanpur

RAJANPUR: At least three people died and five others injured in firing of armed men over old dispute here on Thursday.

Police said that a girl named Ameena entered into love marriage with Dilawar belonging to rival group in Broosabad locality of Rajanpur which further intensified the tension between the two groups.

About 25 people including family members and relatives of the girl on Thursday morning reached the house of Dilawar and demanded that their girl be handed over to them.

The refusal led to exchange of hot words and the verbal clash turned violent after which the people who had arrived to take back the girl opened straight firing killing three people including a brother of Dilawar and leaving five others injured.

The assailants fled from the scene of the crime before the arrival of police. The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Rajanpur for medico-legal formalities.
