KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that there is right time to introduce biometric system for the attendance of the students of secondary and higher secondary classes and new subject at college level according to the needs of 21st century.
This he said while presiding over a meeting of heads of various sectors of Education Department here in Tughlaq House on Wednesday, said a statement.
Secretary Education Mumtaz Ali Shah, Special Secretary Zakir Hussain Shah, D G Colleges, DG Private Schools, Director Colleges, Officials of Reform Support Unit and officials of other components attended the meeting as well. The Education Minister stressed upon the officers of Education Department to enhance enrollment in schools especially of girls students and to arrest the dropout rate of the children from schools. He directed them to make a comprehensive plan for adult learning with the focus on skill development while action should be taken against unregistered private schools and ensure the safety of students at all cost. He further directed to get all educational institutions freed, occupied by illegal occupants and to mobilize the communities and involve them to increase enrollment.
He added, it is a matter of pleasure that Sindh is the first province, to have its social studies syllabus from class six to eight. He said that there should be an effective representation of Sindh in National Curriculum Council. The Education Minister asked the Chairman Sindh Text Book Board to develop a comprehensive and scientific mechanism for free distribution of text books so that the students might not suffer.
The Education Minister was informed in the meeting that curriculum for minorities was ready to be implemented. In the meeting all heads of various departments briefed the Minister Education about the performance and working of their respective departments.
