LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Acting Ameer, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the murder of renowned Qawwali star Amjad Sabri and the abduction of the Sindh High Court Chief Justice’s son in Karachi clearly indicated that RAW and its agents have become active once again.

In a statement here on Thursday, he said that the target killers wanted to sabotage the efforts for the restoration of peace in the port city. He said this was a big challenge for the security institutions of the country.

The JI acting chief said that terrorists and the corrupt mafias were a great threat to the country’s solidarity and the nation must unite to eliminate the enemies of peace and terrorism.

He said the corruption mafia wanted to create an atmosphere of anarchy, fear and insecurity in order to bury the demand for accountability. However, he said, that wiping out corruption, bribery and commissions was essential to control political and economic terrorism.  He said the failure in the recovery of Awais Shah had emboldened the terrorists involved in abduction. He said the security agencies and institutions should dig out the net work of the terrorists in order to control the fresh wave of terrorism.

Meanwhile, the acting JI chief contacted the leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, and discussed with him the persisting deadlock between the government and the ruling party on the ToR’s. The two decided that a joint meeting of the opposition parties would be called after Eid to discuss the matter.

Meanwhile, the JI acting chief had a meeting with the Pakistan Awami Muslim League president Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in Islamabad and exchanged with him the views on the latest political situation in the country.
