BANGKOK: Myanmar has brought to shore another boat packed with 727 migrants as Asian Regional Group decided to extend its support to resolve the region’s migrant crisis.
Asian countries agreed to expedite the search and rescue operations in Myanmar. The countries have also decided to address the root causes of migration at a regional conference in Bangkok. The ill-treated Rohingya Muslim minority and Bangladeshi immigrants entered in the sea on boats to save their lives when mass violence broke out against them in Myanmar.
Myanmar on Friday said that it had picked up a boat with 727 migrants. Myanmar said that they had rescued 200 migrants in another operation a week ago. Thousands of migrants are reportedly said be stranded at sea, trying to head south to Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Asian Regional Group, US, UN and International Organization for Migration were attended the meeting.
