Sharjeel Memon denies report of raid at his residence

KARACHI: Information Minister Sindh, Sharjeel Memon on Friday (today) refuted media reports that a raid had taken place at his and said that he will write a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority to take action against TV channel who aired false news.

It is pertinent to mention here that a TV channel had reported a raid was conducted on the Minister house in Defense Housing Authority Khyaban-e-Mujahid and recovered two billion rupees. As per the report the minister’s servants video statements were also recorded.

The minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader categorically rejected that any raid at his residence had taken place.

Talking to private news channel, the minister said he would take action againt the TV channel which aired the story without verifying it. “We have tried to remain friendly with the media but I will take action against the media house which aired this story without verifying it.”

According to Memon yesterday (Thursday) a newspaper had printed a similar story and today (Friday) a retraction was printed.

“It is not correct to run such baseless stories on personal agendas,” Memon said.

It is also newsworthy that the minister secretary was also arrested few weeks ago on corruption charges from DHA.
