Govt decides to impose fixed duty on computer, lap top imports

ISLAMABAD: Government has decided to impose fixed tax on import of computers and laptops in budget of next fiscal year 2015-2016. Sources said that it will make import of the item legal and add one billion rupees in national exchequer.

The suggestion was put forward by Pakistan Computer Association (PCA). The association in its suggestion said that imposed fixed tax on imports of computers and laptops it will make trade legal as well as bring one billion revenue.

The association said that Pakistan imports around 0.4 million computers of whom only 35% legally. After imposing fixed tax on the computer import it will help to stop illegal trade of the items. On the other hand government would get one billion rupees tax from the measure.
