Islamic Center case: SC expresses displeasure over non compliance of orders

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) on Thursday has reportedly expressed its displeasure over the conduct of the Sindh government, the City District Government Karachi and the Karachi Munciapl Corporation for non compliance of the earlier court orders as representatives of all the three parties remained failed to be produced before the apex court.

The three member bench under chair of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali was hearing the case pertaining to conversion of the Islamic Center into a cinema house.

The court has taken sou moto notice on the issue, in response to a letter written by the JI Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while converting the letter into a Constitutional writ petition.

According to the local media reports, the honorable judges have warned the provincial govt, KMC and CDGK , not to play with the judiciary.

The court has again issued the summons to the KMC and CDGK. During the proceedings, the judges have termed the transformation of an Islamic centre into cinema as strange, said the media reports.

The local media has also revealed that during the case hearing, the Advocate General had admitted that the center was given to a drama company under a resolution of the provincial government.

The apex court has ordered the administrator Karachi to be produced before the court and adjourned the hearing till the second week of June, 2016.
