ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, in an apparent response to India’s supersonic interceptor missile test, said on Monday that Pakistan would address the development at an international level.

Expressing concern over India’s missile test, Aziz said it will disturb the balance of power in the region, and added that Pakistan will continue to upgrade its defensive capabilities by acquiring advanced technology.

India is enjoying the cooperation of the United States, as Washington thinks a strong India is vital to contain China, he said. The adviser said Pakistan would raise its voice at the international level against these developments.

Sartaj Aziz’s statement comes just a day after India successfully test-fired indigenously developed supersonic interceptor missile, capable of destroying any incoming ballistic missile, from a test range off Odisha coast.

“The test launch of supersonic interceptor missile by India is not a surprising news for us, but definitely we are concerned over the disturbing of the balance of power in the region”.

Sartaj Aziz said India and Pakistan are bound by an agreement of informing each other of their respective missile tests. Pakistan is not oblivious to its defense and will think seriously to upgrade its defensive capabilities. India is enjoying the backing and cooperation of the US as Washington thinks a strong India is vital to contain China. Pakistan will definitely acquire advanced technology to improve its defense.

“We are concerned over the fact that due to these tests by India the balance of power in the region is being disturbed. Pakistan will raise its voice at the international level against these developments.”
