Pakistan foreign office has confirmed that former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani’s son Ali Haider Gillani has been recovered from Afghanistan today (Tuesday).
The FO spokesman said Afghan National Security officials phoned Sartaj Aziz and told him about the successful recovery of ex-PM’s son who was kidnapped in 2013.
Afghan officials told Sartaj Aziz that Gillani’s son was recovered from Ghazni, area of Afghanistan.
The FO said Ali Haider will be sent to Pakistan after medical checkup.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairmen disclosed the news via twitter message saying that former PM Gillani has received a call form ambassador of Afghanistan who told him (Gillani) about the news.
The ambassador said Ali Haider Gillani was recovered in a successful operation.
It is pertinent to mention here that, Ali Haider was kidnapped by gunmen in Multan on May 9, 2013.
Ali Haider was kidnapped when he was leaving a street corner meeting outside the house of a supporter at Matti Tal Road in Multan’s Farrukh Town.
His two associates were killed in the process.
At the time of the abduction, Ali Haider was contesting for the general election from PPP-200 constituency in Multan.
