ISLAMABAD: Senator Mushahidullah Khan Monday said the government was ready for accountability and the Prime Minister had already written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for setting up a commission to investigate the Panama Papers Leaks.
Speaking in the Senate, he said the government agreed to the opposition’s demand for the formation of the commission as it was not involved in any corruption and wrongdoings.
He said as per the past practices the government was supposed to frame Terms of Reference (TORs) for any commission. The TORs presented by the opposition for the judicial commission on Panama Papers were mala fide and based on ill-intention.
Mushahidullah said efforts were being made to stop the Prime Minister from implementing his welfare-oriented agenda in the country.
He said overall law and order in the country had improved significantly. Now the situation was much better in Karachi and Balochistan as compared to the past, he added.
He said that all economic indicators were positive showing that the economy was moving in right direction.
He said more names, including financers of the opposition parties such as Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan, Zulfi Bukahri, Rehman Malik and others, were coming in the Panama Leaks.
He said such issues were not resolved in the Parliament but settled at legal forums.
