Tokyo shares pick up by break after six straight losses

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks rebounded Monday morning on the back of six losing sessions as investors returned to the market following public holidays in Japan.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index gained 0.54 percent, or 86.75 points, to 16,193.47 by the lunch break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares rose 0.58 percent, or 7.47 points, to 1,305.79.
