KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer, Senator Sirajul Haq has strictly criticized the government of Pakistan for its failure and criminal silence over the extra judicial killings in Bangladesh on the pretext of so-called war crimes.

Addressing a big rally organised at New M.A. Jinnah Road to Mazar-e-Quaid here on Sunday, he demanded of the international community to play its due role for refraning Bangladeshi government from political victimization of opposition leaders.

A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the protest rally, taken out by JI against the Bangladeshi ruling regime that has been frequently executing its political rivals through a controversial tribunal.

Participants were carrying placards and banners, inscribed with the solgans against injustice and brutality, being carried  out by the Bangladeshi government.

Speaking on the occasion, the JI leader strictly charged the ruling regime for betraying those who duely supported the then united Pakistan and who are now being executed through a bogus tribunal.

Siraj expressed his deep anger and displeasure over the government’s behaviour, which he described as “criminal silence” and accused it of doing nothing at any level. He added that the JI leaders have approached several government high-ups to discuss the issue but the rulers were not ready to take any step in this regard.

He said that JI has also contected several diplomatic missions for release of political prisoners in Bangladesh but all were of the view that nothing can be happen without the active role of Pakistani government as the state was also a part of the pact in 1971 under which it was decided that no cases would be filed against anyone.

The JI leader said that it is a matter of great shame for the nation that the elected government even did not dare to take up the issue at the platform of OIC.

He strongly demanded of those in the corridors of powers to take up the issue on the international level so as to provide the wellwishers of Pakistan with some relief.

The JI supremo also strictly criticized the Bangladeshi government for violating all the international pacts for executing opposition leaders through a bogus tribunal on the behest of neighbouring state of India.

JI Karachi chief, Engineer Hafiz  Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the opposition leaders in Bangladesh, who are being subjected to brutal sentences, did not commit any act of treason but the Bangladeshi government was dancing on the tunes of Indian government.

He added that 55,000 political activists have been arrested in Bangladesh. Besides this, he added, some 30,000 youngsters and students, including girls have also been detained.

Engr. Naeem said that the Nawaz Sharif led ruling regime has been keeping mum over the crimes of Bangladeshi government only owing to its financial interests in India. He accused the government of following only its monitory and family interests.

Dr. Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui, Muhammad Hussain Mehnati and others also delivered their addresses during the protest rally.
