KABUL: A passenger bus has reportedly collided with a fuel tanker in southeastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan earlier today leaving 50 killed and 60 others wounded.
Provincial governor spokesman Aqa Javid confirmed that 50 people were killed and over 60 others were wounded in the incident, Khaama Press reported.
Earlier reports suggested at least 8 people have lost their lives and around 60 others sustained injuries. Javid confirmed that the incident took place in Moqor district on Kabul-Kandahar highway.
This comes nearly a month after at least 8 people were killed and over 40 others were wounded in a deadly traffic incident in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.
Local officials said a bus overturned in Washer district as it was on its way from Nimroz province.
Earlier, at least 11 people were killed and 6 others were wounded in a similar incident in the outskirts of Herat city in west of Afghanistan.
The majority of the road accidents are taking place due to bad conditions of the roads, lack of traffic signs as well as reckless driving which largely contributes to deadly incidents in the country.
