NEW DELHI: The Facebook owned WhatsApp is preparing to get worldwide attention through introducing a web client for browsers to provide access to its users using PC limiting the restriction of smartphones and mobiles.

The popular chat app WhatsApp is likely to allow users for accessing features like text messaging, file sharing via PC. Moreover, the company might be working on a full-fledged desktop application for Windows and Mac operating systems as well, Times of India reported.

A Twitter account (not affiliated with WhatsApp) tracking changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds recently tweeted images having references to WhatsApp’s desktop application being developed for the desktop, report said.

However, the WhatsApp access through PC using browser could be “very limited and inconvenient method” as the phone should be connected to the internet at the same while the user will be restricted to always open their browser.

The feature could remove need of mobile phones to be connected to the Internet all the time in order to transfer documents and voice calls but only by usage of a full-fledged desktop application.

On the other hand, WhatsApp will be soon introduce new features including voice mail and sharing of zip files for iOS and Android users. The instant messaging service was also in the news recently on account of being temporarily banned in Brazil, report said.
