2,200 tonnes of mangoes exported in five days

KARACHI: Pakistanis mangoes, popular all over the world for their mouth watering taste, exports have reached to a record in just five days and it fetched $1.1 million dollar.

Pakistan has exported around 2,200 tonnes of mangoes, since the start of export season on May 20.

Mangoes were being exported to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iran, Afghanistan, CIS countries and Oman, among others.

The fruit was being exported for about $500 per tonne this season compared to $250 last year.

It is expected this year that the country to produce as many as 1.8 million mangoes.
