KARACHI: The Vice-Chancellor of Karachi University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser has said that educated nations remember their scholars and scientists.
He was performing the inauguration of the Image Processing Lab at Karachi University’s Department of Geography, an official of the institution said on Sunday.
It was pointed out that this newly built lab is one of the biggest Image Processing Labs of the country.
This has been named after an eminent geographic scientist of Karachi University, Prof. Iqtidar Hussain Zaidi.
The Vice-Chancellor in his remarked on the occasion said that literary and educated nations do not forget their scholars and scientists.
This is imperative to recognise the academic services of scholars and academicians who have contributed a lot for the society and academia.
He further stated that the Karachi University has always recognized its highly distinguished scholars and scientists.
He said today the establishment of the Image Processing Lab at the Department of Geography named after eminent geographic scientist and former Chairman Geography Department KU, Prof. Iqtidar Hussain Zaidi, is indeed commendable. This trend must continue in other departments as well, he added.
He congratulated Prof. Dr. Jamil Hasan Kazmi, Chairman Department of Geography KU, for establishment of this lab and said that his actions are in the positive direction for the betterment of the Department.
Chairman Geography Department KU Prof. Dr. Jamil H. Kazmi said that Prof. Iqtidar Hussain Zaidi was an eminent scholar and teacher.
His contributions to the Department and in the field of geography will always be written in golden words.
He said that this newly built lab can facilitate 83 students at a time which makes it one of the biggest Image Processing Labs of the country.
He lauded the support of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, and termed his role pivotal in the development of the University during his tenure.
Dr. Jamil pointed out that he was committed to bring about the required improvements in the Department.
