ISLAMABAD: Mehdi Honardoost, ambassador of Iran assured Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage on Thursday that Iran will not allow the use of its soil against any country.
This assurance was held out in a meeting between Iranian ambassador and Minister for IB&NH here. Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Pakistan considered Iran a close friend and a neighbour with whom Pakistan traditionally enjoyed cordial and brotherly relations.
The Information Minister termed the recent visit of Iranian President Hasan Rouhani a great success and that the gains made during the visit would be further consolidated and capitalized for the mutual benefit of the peoples of the both countries.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Pakistan would further like to enhance the canvass of bilateral relationship in the areas of trade, economics, parliamentary exchanges, science and technology, border management, culture and people-to-people contacts.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that terrorism and extremism are common enemies and joint and concerted efforts were needed to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists to ensure peace and security in the region.
The Iranian Ambassador said “the security of Iran and Pakistan is closely intertwined and we view Pakistan’s security as our own security.”
During the meeting, cooperation in the field of media and information also came under discussion.
The Iranian Ambassador emphasized the need for frequent high level visits and exchange of media delegations to learn from each other experiences and best practices.
The Minister assured his full cooperation to Ambassador in this regard.
